Crochet Dog Toy Pattern

Do you like to make your own crochet dog toy or make some to donate to your local animal shelter? The Sleepy Moon Dog Toy is perfect for these endeavors. It’s big and cuddly and ideal for the larger dog that likes to carry their toys around. For the smaller dogs, it could easily be used as a pillow or for company when their human has to be away.

Disclaimer: I would not recommend this toy for a dog who is an extreme chewer.

Supplies Needed

Super Bulky #6 {I used Bernat Blanket Yarn}

Estimated yardage: 100 yds moon color; 20-30 yds hat color

US L (7mm) hook{I highly recommend Furls Streamlines}

Optional: small amount #4 black yarn for embroidered eye and mouth

Polyfil Stuffing

Large eye tapestry needle

SIZE:

12” long x 6” wide

SKILL LEVEL:

Advanced Beginner +

NOTES:

  • Using the super bulky makes an extremely big toy. Substitute a smaller weight yarn and hook size for a smaller toy.
  • This toy is recommended more for dogs who like to carry or cuddle their toys, not recommended for a heavy chewer.
  • Your circle may start to get wavy as you increase. Once you fold in half and stuff, the wave will go away.
